Ethics

Ethics first, for what lasts

Communication is a toolbox. A website, a campaign or a brand guide change nothing on their own. Communication only matters if it answers a real need and the team can use it.

Our four principles

Local-led

Local-led

Needs are defined by the organisation itself. We start from their priorities, scope small, test fast, transfer.

Do no harm

Do no harm

We avoid actions that could harm people. If context shifts, we adapt or stop.

No job substitution

No job substitution

We don't replace a local role. We document, train and strengthen autonomy.

Transparency

Transparency

Clear scope, identified tasks, estimated time, open communication at every step.

Our commitment

What we do, what we don't.

What we do

  • Short, useful, well-transferred missions
  • Capacity building: guides, checklists, tutorials, training
  • Remote work by default, with short on-site presence only when meaningful

What we don't do

  • Replace a local role or undermine fair pay
  • Take part in orphanage 'voluntourism'
  • Work with vulnerable groups without a formal safeguarding frame
  • Move forward without consent, authorisations or safety measures

Safeguarding and consent

We commit to a safe working frame for all involved.

When stories, photos or testimonies are shared, we require informed consent and avoid identifying details.

For on-site work, we verify authorisations, insurance and a security contact.

Personal data and privacy

We limit data collection to what's necessary and store it securely.

Sensitive names are anonymised by default in public content.

Modification or deletion requests are always possible.

Pay, environment, conflicts of interest

Fair pay and solidarity model

Membership + mission budget. Some missions co-funded to stay accessible.

Environmental footprint

Remote or hybrid work. Travel only when truly useful, and validated.

Conflicts of interest

Any relationship that could affect impartiality is flagged. Supervision if needed.

Transparency commitment

Practices, prices and frame published. Any mission can be discussed or stopped.
